Vel Venturi the Jedi Knight by ProphetX Vel Venturi the Jedi Knight by ProphetX
Ok so Vel's player Kelly hit me up last December with a payload of commissions for her gaming buddies. She recently hit me up with her part of the Christmas gift (to herself, natch! :) ) and she wanted my take on Vel as seen here [link]

The problem I have with line art is I find it's a hard act to follow. I love line art and I always feel that my meager 3d skills don't quite cut the mustard in comparison. But that is just me being overly critical of myself.

One thing for certain is the picture was unique. Which meant I had to sit down and figure out what elements I wanted to keep and could recreate in a 3d medium while putting my own touch on it. Let's face it, the sleeve things look awesome but in a real fight Vel is going to be lopping them off quickly. But I didn't care. Those sleeve designs and the colors to me is what really set the original image apart.

So I took it a step further and included Jedi script down her torso. I also wanted to do something a bit different. I normally do poses rather than full blown scenes but even those I'd like to mix up occasionally. So I got the idea of her ascending to the heavens and in the background was Ennoia just out of focus. Sort of like with her in spirit sort of thing.

Oh and the Jedi code says (right) There is no emotion, there is peace. (left) There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.

It's totally awesome. A girl can't have just ONE outfit, anyway!

I couldn't agree more :) Thanks for the kind words though

Wow, Jerome, that's amazing! You totally took the ideas and made them your own. I *love* the outfit, and the script is perfect. Vel looks like a knight. And I love the idea of her 'ascending', and having Ennoia in the background. Wow! Just even more fantastic than I imagined. Thank you SO much!

Any time chica. I guess what caught me was the outfit I chose for her to wear. I knew I couldn't replicate the one she had in the image -and- give her the sleeves and the draping tabbard thing in the front (had to do with the 3d props I had). But I noticed that one of the outfits I had looked very close to the picture, and I had separate sleeve props that I could edit and give it that look.

When they started coming together is when it really "came together" in my mind and I knew she'd look good. That was my worry was that I'd put something together and it would be so-so
